Shadiyah Curry, Recording Secretary
Shadiyah Curry is a seasoned business and legal affairs leader and a devoted mother of three, including one child with cerebral palsy and another with a speech delay. Her personal journey navigating the special education systems in both New York and Los Angeles—combined with her legal expertise—fuels her unwavering commitment to advocacy, equity, and inclusion in NYC schools.
A proud graduate of Boston College, Shadiyah earned her B.A. in Political Science and was initiated into Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She later received her Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law, where she served on the Entertainment Law Journal. With over a decade of experience in contract negotiation, advocacy, and legal compliance, she has held senior roles at SAG AFTRA, MSL (Global), All Def Digital, David & Goliath, and Pereira O'Dell.
Currently, Shadiyah serves as the District 75 Representative, and Recording Secretary of the Community Education Council for District 29 (CEC 29). In these roles, she will champion timely access to services, inclusive classroom models, physical accessibility, and transportation equity.
Shadiyah’s advocacy is deeply personal. Her son, Solomon, who uses an AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) device to speak and has done so since the age of two, starred in a commercial for Montefiore Einstein, which you can view https://youtu.be/ggB4cx_-FBE?si=wvL6krbVMUaawquw.
Shadiyah gave him a voice, and is proud to be a voice for children and families like hers, regardless of ability. Her goal is to ensure a future where families are informed, empowered, and treated as true partners.
